Call of Duty: Modern Warfare PS4 Open Beta – Day 4 Recap

Day 4 of the PlayStation 4 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta Open Beta is wrapping up, and Infinity Ward has shared on Reddit a recap of the day, including what they’re looking into after Day 4 and more.

The studio is continuing to look at the feedback from the fans on the spawn issues, working to fix a lot of the bugs including the Parties having to be disbanded, Cruise Missile issues, and more.

The studio also provided an updated schedule for Weekend 2 of the Beta, which begins Sept. 19.

FROM INFINITY WARD:

It’s the final full day of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Open Beta and we want to send our sincerest thanks to everyone who hopped online and joined the action. Since Thursday, you’ve been sending us your feedback all across social media, giving your honest suggestions and feedback, and we couldn’t be more grateful. We’ve been reading all of your comments and been discussing them here at the studio each day. It’s a heartwarming feeling to see so many of you invested in Modern Warfare and doing everything you can to help us as we look towards launch on October 25th. Thank you all so much!

Now, let’s look at some of the topics you’ve all sent our way since the start of day four:

You all have shared some pretty amazing and insightful feedback so far. Please keep in mind that if you don’t see your issue fixed by weekend two, please know that we’re working to polish all of the feedback by launch. This definitely isn’t all of your feedback, but let’s take a look at some of the issues we’re looking into…

  • Connecting to Online Services: Some players are unable to connect to online services. If you’re still having this issue, please feel free to PM me your PSNID so we can further investigate.
  • Weapon Attachments: In some cases, weapon attachments are not unlocking after reaching the required level. This is being investigated.
  • Spawning and Visuals: Spawning is currently inconsistent on some maps, so thank you for sharing your videos with us and sharing your feedback. We’ll continue to monitor the spawn system and we’ll update you if we deploy any changes. We will also be looking into lighting and exposure on various areas of the map, such as how you view dark rooms from the outside of a building and vice versa, for example.
  • Recon Drone: There are two noted issues with this Killstreak. One: UI elements remain on the players screen after using the Drone. Second: Thermal function on the Drone causes the map below to become discolored.
  • Weapons clipping through the Operator Character Model: On occasion, the AUG will clip through the arm of an Operator when viewing in the matchmaking or Operator selection screen

BETA WEEKEND 2 SCHEDULE:

This weekend, we’ll be kicking off weekend two of the Beta. We’ve already hinted a bit at Ground War, where you’ll take on more enemies in an all-out battle of 32v32 on a new map, Karst River Quarry. Not only that…but we’ll be bringing more players into the fight with Crossplay.

  • Early Access: Xbox and PC – 10AM PST September 19th – 6PM PST September 20th. Also during this time is the Open Beta for PS4 players.
  • Open Beta: ALL PLATFORMS – 6PM PST September 20th – 10AM PST September 23rd

As a side note here, the timing of when the Open Beta goes live on Xbox One and PC was updated. Rather than going live on Saturday, Sept 21, the Open Beta on Xbox One and PC will begin Friday, Sept. 20 at 6PM PT / 9PM ET.

Infinity Ward ‘looking at different ways’ to include mini map, teammate outlines, and compass in Modern Warfare

As the debate continues surrounding the mini map in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Infinity Ward has chimed in to state that they are continuing to investigate a variety of different combinations in game.

Modern Warfare offers players the teammate outlines to see friendlies while traversing the map, mini map and UAV through killstreaks, and a compass at the top to show directional enemy fire.

With the feedback during the Beta, Infinity Ward has started to test some other combinations. On Day 3 of the Beta, following fan outrage, Infinity Ward added the mini map back into the game but disabled enemy fire on the map. This still left many players wanting more. As the saying goes, “don’t fix what isn’t broken.”

As part of the continued testing, Infinity Ward has noted that on Day 4 of the PS4 Beta, they will be enabling mini map but no enemy fire shown and disabling teammate outlines. The compass will remain enabled.

Infinity Ward’s Senior CM has stated on Twitter that the studio is actively looking at different ways of using the mini map, compass, and teammate outlines to best fit the game. Many fans would just prefer the mini map back with enemy fire shown, but the studio is still testing out options during the course of the beta weekends.

As always, we’ll keep you updated.

Modern Warfare Ground War mode still features killstreaks, alongside vehicles

We’ve still yet to see gameplay from the new Ground War mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which is set to be in the Beta on Weekend 2, but new details continue to trickle out.

A new screenshot showcased from Modern Warfare reveals the Ground War’s Karst River Quarry map, and shows vehicles and helicopters in action in the map.

Many fans started wondering if the vehicles will be part of the map by default or if there’s killstreaks to earn.

Infinity Ward’s Co MP Design Director has stated on Reddit that there are ‘definitely killstreaks’ in the Ground War mode.

It’s not clear exactly which vehicles will be natively part of the map and which will be restricted to players earning killstreaks. Back in August, GameInformer shared an overview of the Ground War mode stating that it had helicopters and more around the map as players ventured into the action.

The Ground War Mode, which is set to feature 32v32 action, will be available in the Modern Warfare Beta starting September 21. Back during the MP reveal in August, Activision stated that the Ground War mode would feature ‘more than 100 players’ but for the Beta testing, it appears to be limited to 64 players.

Report: Modern Warfare Ground War mode (32v32) to feature mini map with enemy fire shown

The biggest controversy surrounding Call of Duty: Modern Warfare since the start of the Beta on PS4 has been regarding the mini-map in game.

Fans have been asking Infinity Ward to bring the mini map back to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare just as it was in previous Call of Duty games. Infinity Ward, for reasons that were never publicly discussed, decided to turn off the mini map by default and have players have to earn just a Personal Radar and UAV kill streak just to see it.

Infinity Ward stated that they have heard the feedback ‘loud and clear’ in regards to the mini map since the start of the Beta on PS4. As a first step towards that, they enabled the mini map in core modes in Modern Warfare, but with a twist: it does not show enemies when they fire.

Now, TheGamingRevoYT (who has thus far been accurate with a lot of his leaks on Modern Warfare) claims that the Ground War 32v32 mode for Modern Warfare actually has the mini map enabled with enemy fire shown – similar to how the mini map operated in every Call of Duty game prior to this one.

It’s not clear as to why they would just have this setup for only the Ground War mode and not every mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

The Ground War mode is set to be available in the Modern Warfare Beta on Sept. 21 on a new large map called Karst River Quarry.

We’ll continue to keep you updated on the latest with Modern Warfare.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare PS4 Open Beta – Day 3 Recap

Day 3 of the PlayStation 4 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta Open Beta is wrapping up, and Infinity Ward has shared on Reddit a recap of the day, including what they’re looking into after Day 3 and more.

The studio is continuing to look at the feedback from the fans on the spawn issues, working to fix a lot of the bugs including the Parties having to be disbanded, Cruise Missile issues, and has shared a look at what’s coming during Day 4 of the Modern Warfare Beta on PS4.

The studio also shared some first information on what to expect in Day 4 of the Beta, including the Realism mode and Gunfight.

FROM INFINITY WARD:

We’re on day three of the beta and today, we opened the beta up to everyone on PlayStation 4. It’s been an exciting day for all of us as we’ve watched you share clips of your gameplay, telling us what loadout you’ve been rockin’, and sharing your thoughts about what you’ve played so far and what you hope to see at launch. This community is incredible and we’re thankful that not only are you taking the time to play, but you’re also telling us what you think. We hear and see all of your comments, so please don’t hesitate to reach out to us on here or on Twitter. We can’t thank you all enough!

You all have shared some pretty amazing and insightful feedback so far. This definitely isn’t all of your feedback, but let’s take a look at some of the issues we’re looking into…

  • Connecting to Online Services: Some players are unable to connect to online services. If you’re still having this issue, please feel free to PM me your PSNID so we can further investigate.
  • Stuttering: On occasion, a player might experience a “pull” or stutter near doors. This is being looked into.
  • Players unable to move in certain locations:We’ve seen a few cases where players are getting stuck in their position and are unable to move around the map. We’re currently investigating this.
  • Weapon Attachments: In some cases, weapon attachments are not unlocking after reaching the required level. This is being investigated.
  • Doors: We’ve read your comments about doors; how they open, how loud they can be, and how they interact with you if they’re already open. We’ll be monitoring how you interact with them throughout the weekend and during weekend two.
  • Semtex Grenade: When stuck to a door, the Semtex grenade will not explode and the grenade icon will remain on screen. This will be fixed for weekend two of the Beta.
  • Smoke effect on weapons: The smoke effect after firing a weapon is currently not displaying in-game. This will be fixed by launch.
  • Players “stuck” on the map: On random places across a map, a player might get ‘stuck’ in their current position and is unable to move. We’re taking a look at these and should have some of these locations fixed for weekend two.
  • Minimap: Today we turned on a version of the minimap that doesn’t display enemy fire. We’ve been reading through your comments not only about the map itself, but also the compass and other UI elements on screen. Reading your feedback has brought up some very insightful conversations here at the studio, so again, thank you. Tomorrow, we’ll be turning off outlines that exist on your teammates within the world. We’d love to hear your thoughts on this combination, so please keep your suggestions and feedback rolling in throughout the weekend.

Infinity Ward has updated the message of the day in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare PS4 Open Beta to reveal when fans can expect the new Ground War mode in the Beta.

The in-game message of the day has stated that the new 32v32 Ground War mode will be added to the beta on Saturday, September 21. The mode will be played on a map called Karst River Quarry, which we actually got a sneak peek of early through the Beta menus.

The in-game message reads:

GROUND WAR COMING SOON

Thank you for playing the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta! We hope you’re enjoying everything we’ve shown you so far, but we aren’t done yet! On Saturday, September 21, during weekend two of the Beta, we’ll be taking your multiplayer experience to the next level. Taking place on a new map, Karst River Quarry, you’ll get your hands on 32v32 warfare in a new mode, Ground War.”

We have yet to officially see gameplay of the new Ground War mode, but press sites like GameInformer have shared their impressions of it stating it’s a combination of large scale Battlefield style maps but with Call of Duty gameplay.

The Ground War mode features vehicles on the map, alongside Killstreaks to still earn and use.

Mini Map to be enabled in Modern Warfare PS4 Beta Day 3

Infinity Ward has announced in their Modern Warfare Early Access Beta Day 2 Recap that they will be investigating the addition of the mini map to the game.

Fans have been outraged over the lack of no mini map, with almost every official Call of Duty tweet getting spammed with bring the mini map back.

Infinity Ward has now stated that they will be adding in the mini map back on Day 3 of the PS4 Beta, but it will not display enemy fire as they continue to test out the changes they are making.

As we mentioned yesterday, we are still experimenting with the mini map, so tomorrow, the mini map will be turned on but will not display enemy fire.

Fans do want the entire original mini map experience for the game, but this is a step in the right direction as the studio investigates other solutions for this.

As always, we will keep you updated.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Early Access PS4 Beta – Day 2 Recap

Day 2 of the Early Access PlayStation 4 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta is wrapping up, and Infinity Ward has shared on Reddit a recap of the day, including what they’re looking into after Day 2 and more.

The studio is looking at the feedback from the fans on the spawn issues, working to fix a lot of the bugs including the Parties having to be disbanded, Cruise Missile issues, and a look at what’s coming during Day 3 of the Modern Warfare Beta on PS4, when the beta becomes an Open Beta for all on PS4.

The level cap will be increased to Level 20 on Sept. 14, alongside new Night variations added of current maps.

FROM INFINITY WARD:

We’re rolling into the weekend with day two of the Beta and we’re excited to tell you more about what’ll you’ll see over the weekend, but first, thank you! Thank you all again so much for your feedback, suggestions, streams, videos, and Tweets today. We’re thankful to have a community who is just as passionate as we are about Modern Warfare and we can’t do any of this without you. With that, let’s take a look at the day two recap…

Feedback Infinity Ward is investigating:

  • Cruise Missile: The camera will remain static on the initial deployment scene and not properly display the map and enemy targets below. Once having control of the missile, it can become hard to control. This is currently being looked into.
  • Clipping through vehicles and Deployable Cover: Character models are currently clipping through vehicles used during the infil sequence and in some cases, when using the Deployable Cover Field Upgrade. These are currently being investigated.

UPCOMING DAY 3 BETA CONTENT:

As we mentioned yesterday, we are still experimenting with the minimap, so tomorrow, the minimap will be turned on but will not display enemy fire.

The game mode filter will be unlocked, allowing you to pick which mode (or modes) you’d like to play.

We will also increase the level cap to level 20.

Maps/Modes:

  • TDM: Azhir Cave (Day), Hackney Yard (Day), Gun Runner
  • DOM: Azhir Cave (Day), Hackney Yard (Day), Gun Runner
  • HQ: Azhir Cave (Day), Hackney Yard (Day), Gun Runner
  • HQ: 10v10 Grazna Raid
  • DOM: 10v10 Grazna Raid

Playlists:

  • Featured Playlist: Cyber Attack – Azhir Cave (Day), Hackney Yard (Day), Gun Runner, Grazna Raid
