This Week in Modern Warfare – Playlist Updates And More

The Activision Blog has shared a look at what’s coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare this week.

Here’s the breakdown, including a Lunar New Year sale, Shipment 24/7, and Deathmatch Domination.

The 2v2 tension-filled battle is changing its tune when it comes to loadouts. Instead of being given a loadout at spawn, players can choose the armaments that they bring into this firefight. Consider how a stage might fare better with certain weapon types, then craft your best loadout and head into battle.

Deathmatch Domination combines TDM and Domination into an epic mashup that rewards players for getting kills and playing the objective. Capture the flags and take down enemies in your path and both will push your team to victory on the scoreboard. Focus on staying alive while holding objective areas to maximize your team’s chances of getting the win.

All Shipment. All the time. The chaotic, fun Shipment 24/7 playlist returns. Load into this tight battleground and rack up kills and XP while playing through a host of game modes.

Celebrate with the ‘Lunar New Year’ bundle. This bundle features items festively themed to mark the first new moon of the lunar calendar. Packed with charms, emblems, a calling card, two tier skips, and more get the ‘Lunar New Year’ bundle in the Featured section of the Modern Warfare Store.

Want to pick up some extra Tiers in Modern Warfare? A Tier sale will go live on January 31 at 10AM PT to February 3 at 10 AM PT. Get individual Tiers in Modern Warfare for 100CP and check the Just For You section of the Store to get Tier bundles on sale.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare January 24 Community Update

Infinity Ward has released the latest community update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on their blog.

The update reveals some additional details on the stat reset error from this week’s update, teases new playlists, and more.

Here’s the full update:

With our latest update out the door, it’s been a busy week at the studio! Let’s take a look at what’s been going on…

On Wednesday, we released our latest title update. We added Aniyah Palace back into rotation, added Capture the Flag to the playlist menu, and also brought back Shoot the Ship. We also gave everyone 5 additional loadout slots for that new Crossbow and fixed quite the list of bugs.

You can check out patch notes for Wednesday’s update HERE

You can also view the notes on our Trello board, HERE. This board shows you known issues we’re investigating and bugs we’re looking into, so be sure to bookmark the board so you can stay up to date!

Did you receive an error prompt while downloading Wednesday’s update and have your combat record stats reset?

During Wednesday’s update, some users were given an error prompt and for those who clicked “Yes”, their combat record stats were temporarily reset.

This also reset your custom loadouts, Operator customizations, Killstreaks, and Field Upgrade selections back to their default state.

As of today, anyone who clicked “Yes” and had their combat record stats reset should now see their combat record displaying properly and as they were prior to initiating Wednesday’s title update. This won’t restore your customizations, so you’ll need to set those up again to your liking.

If you were part of this group who had their stats reset and are not seeing them restored, please reach out to us!

Are you stuck in a download loop with “Spec Ops DLC” on PS4?

This is still being investigated. Please keep an eye on our Trello board and @InfinityWard on Twitter for updates on this issue. Thank you again for your patience.

We’re also working on some fun twists on old favorites, like Deathmatch Domination…and we’re working on a version of Gunfight with some updated loadouts. We also have some more 2XP events coming your way over the next few weeks too, so stay tuned for more details!

Want to meet some of the IW staff? Check out our latest developer diary with Associate Producer, Rick Alvarez, HERE!

Modern Warfare’s new monetization model is reportedly paying off

A new report from SuperData has been released for the video game industry for the month of December 2019, and the analytical firm has revealed that Modern Warfare’s new monetization model is working.

The report reveals that the game had 4% increase in revenue generated in it first quarter compared to Black Ops 4.

And in December alone, the game generated $78M in revenue during its first month of monetization.

Even tho the revenue was a bit lower than Black Ops 4’s for December, it was impressive because of lack of season pass and supply drops.

A gamble on a new business model paid off for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Unlike past games in the franchise, Modern Warfare did not offer a season pass or paid map packs and monetized exclusively through battle pass sales and microtransactions. Despite this, Modern Warfare revenue in Q4 2019 was 4% higher than Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII during its launch quarter. In December 2019, the first month Modern Warfare players could purchase in-game content, spending reached $78.7M, nearly as much as was spent on Black Ops IIII in-game content during that game’s entire first quarter ($92.9M).

Infinity Ward provides status update on stat reset bug in Modern Warfare

Infinity Ward has posted a status update on their website about the stat reset bug that occurred in game following the latest patch update.

The issue prompted users to pick Yes or No to reset their stats in order to continue playing. The studio advised that users do not select any of those options and hard close the application and restart it.

In a post on their site, they’ve provided some additional info on the issue:

Hi everyone,

We want to give a status update on the error prompt issue that occurred while rolling out today’s title update.

A backend fix has already been deployed across all platforms, so you won’t see a download prompt or see anything pop-up on screen to notify you a fix is available. This fix looks at two things:

Loadout Slots:

Part of today’s update included additional loadout slots. If you created classes in these slots, you’ll see that they have been reset back to default. This will only happen one time. If you didn’t create any additional classes in those slots, you won’t notice anything. This also fixes an issue where clicking on these slots could kick some players back to the multiplayer screen.

Error Prompt:

  • If you were presented with the error prompt and did not click “Yes” and closed the game, your stats are still intact. Feel free to play as usual.
  • If you did click “Yes” – you most likely noticed your stats in the combat record, leaderboards, custom classes, and Operators were reset. Nothing related to your progression was lost, so your rank, XP, Battle Pass progression, weapon progression, unlocks, purchases, etc., are all still intact.

We’re actively working on a fix for this, but do not have one to deploy tonight. You are still able to play the game as usual and your progression will still track, but please be aware that once we do have a fix, we may have to roll back your stats to the state they were in prior to today’s update.

We appreciate everyone’s patience while we work through this issue and thank you to everyone who has helped by sending us their information, videos, and screenshots. We’ll provide another update when we have more information for those whose stats were reset and again, thank you all for your patience.

  • 5 additional loadout slots!
  • New Weapon – Crossbow! Unlocked by using a Marksman Rifle with a Reflex Optic, get 5 kills in 25 different matches!

  • Fix for a bug that could lock a PC player’s FOV at 60 until they respawn while in Ground War
  • The “Stand Together” calling card (3 Wins in Team Deathmatch) was being awarded even though this calling card is earned by default. This has been adjusted to the “Redemption” calling card.
  • The Daily Challenge for getting “10 Claymore Kills” was awarding the “One Shot” spray which is unlocked by default. This has been adjusted to the “Soft Serve” spray.
  • Fix for an issue where the playlist filter would not switch game modes, even with multiple modes selected
  • Adjusted the damage threshold for “Get X Kills while Injured” challenge to make it a bit easier to obtain

  • Players can no longer cancel their recovery state when sliding, but will always incur the standard fire delay (visually the player will still respond)
  • On Shipment, players are able to set Care Packages on spawn points, causing players to die instantly when spawning in on these points. This has been fixed.
  • Fixed an issue where the Elite Xbox One controller had a slight bounce back with the analog sticks
  • Fixed a bug that could give players invincibility
  • Fix for some Officer Progression emblems not displaying the correct rarity
  • Fixed an issue that would lock Operator missions despite having the correct Battle Pass Tier

Field Upgrades:

  • Fixed a bug where using the ‘Stopping Power Rounds’ Field Upgrade with an empty C4 slot would cause the C4 detonator to appear before reloading with the Stopping Power Rounds
  • Fixed a bug that allowed players to reach unintended locations while manipulating the Weapon Drop Field Upgrade
  • Fixed a bug that allowed the Recon Drone to fly into geo if C4 was thrown onto it
  • Fix for Stopping Power Rounds not applying the correct damage boost to headshots

Trophy System:

  • Increased protection radius

  • M4A1 Blueprint “OG” ADS position moved forward; the viewmodel or gun’s position relative to the  camera or player’s eye is moved forward more, so it blocks less of the line of sight
  • Changing the magazine capacity from 45 to 50 for the RAM-7 extended magazine.
  • Increasing the bullet penetration of the MK2 Carbine
  • Less horizontal recoil on the initial bullets of the FN Scar-17

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare January 17 Community Update

As part of Infinity Ward’s push to provide some more communication on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the studio has posted their latest community update highlighting what’s happening with the game.

The new community update highlights new playlists that are coming soon, some of the new things that are on the way, as well as bug fixes the studio is tracking.

Here’s the community update:

It’s been an exciting week, with Shoot House 24/7 making its return, the new “Same Day Delivery” playlist, and some new Gunfight 3v3 action, so let’s get ready for the weekend and take a look at what’s coming in Modern Warfare.

We’re extending Season One, which will now end on February 11th. We’ve got new challenges, items, more game modes, new playlists…and of course, a pretty sweet Crossbow that you can earn by completing a challenge in-game, all coming over the next few weeks. We’ll also be flipping the switch on 2XP, 2X Weapon XP, and 2X Tier Progression events to help you finish up your Officer Ranks and Tiers, just in time for Season Two!

Speaking of XP events, live now until Monday, January 20th, hop online and earn all the XP with 2XP and 2X Weapon XP!

We also kicked off our first developer diary blog with our Cinematics Lead, Jeff Negus. He helps make the cutscenes in Modern Warfare! Want to read his interview, click here!

We’ve also been working on an update that we’re looking to publish to all platforms next week, so be sure to keep an eye out for patch notes!

Last week we revealed our Trello board, a quick and easy way for us to update you on things we’re working on, what’s coming, and any other important information you may need. As we’ve mentioned, it’s not everything we’re working on, but it’s a solid way to see the status of some of the issues you’ve reported.

Stay up to date and check out the Trello board HERE!

Also, as part of our effort to help provide relief towards the devasting bushfires in Australia, we’re donating 100% of Activision’s net proceeds from each purchase of the “Outback” bundle, which we’re renamed the “Outback Relief” pack, across all platforms through January 31st. If you already purchased this pack, your purchase will count towards the donation. Thank to everyone who has purchased the pack so far.
