Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Crossplay Beta Weekend 2 Recap

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Crossplay Beta is now officially over!

Over the last weekend, Infinity Ward had the Modern Warfare Beta live on PS4, Xbox One, and PC and tested out Crossplay, Cross Progression, Ground War mode, and more for the MP experience of the game.

With the MP beta now over, all eyes turn toward the final four weeks left till the global launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Back in early Sept, Infinity Ward shared a Road to Launch Roadmap for Modern Warfare, and we’ve got some reveals to look forward as we get closer to October 25.

Infinity Ward will be showcasing new details on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s campaign mode in the ‘end of September,’ which is some point within the next week. An exact date has not been confirmed, so stay tuned.

The studio also confirmed plans to reveal the Spec Ops co-op mode for the game during the week of October 7.

Infinity Ward shared an overall recap of the entire beta weekends on Reddit, and here’s a look at it.

FROM INFINITY WARD:

First and foremost, we want to thank each and every one of you for joining us during the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta. Whether you only played one weekend or both, your feedback was heard, and we can’t thank you enough. This was one of the most crucial testing times for our game and we’re honored that you all were with us every step of the way. As we’ve said before and will continue to say, this is your game just as much as it is ours, and we couldn’t do any of this without you. From everyone on the Infinity Ward development team, thank you so, so, much for playing.

Feedback We’re Looking Into:

During the Beta, you sent us your comments, suggestions, and bugs. We’ll continue to update you on the status of these bugs after the Beta as well! The list below captures some of the feedback you provided, so please don’t be alarmed if you don’t see a particular issue you reported in the list below. Let’s take a look at some of the feedback we’re looking into:

  • Blurriness while ADSing or on the matchmaking screen on PC
  • Crashes on Xbox One and PC (please check existing threads on here if you’re experiencing one of these crashes)
  • Players are unable to chat with console platforms while on PC
  • Players were able to change their input device midmatch. We deployed a fix for this during the beta.
  • Recon Drone UI staying on screen after using
  • Juggernaut Suit not spawning out of the crate and the mask staying on screen after the player has died in the suit and respawned back in to match
  • Ground War: In some cases, players would spawn or be ‘pushed’ under the map, allowing them to kill enemy players while being hidden. Friendlies are also able to spawn on under the map as well. We’re looking into how you spawn on your teammates as well as spawning in on vehicles in general, too.
  • Players are unable to shoot through open rails/towers
  • Screen tearing on character and weapon models on Xbox
  • VTOL Jet firing through the roof of various buildings in Quarry
  • Suppressed M13 still uses normal audio sounds
  • Settings not saving on PC
  • FOV Slider setting reverting to default after loading into the map. This has been fixed.
  • Doors not opening or closing as intented. In some cases, players are able to see through closed doors.
  • Cyber Attack: Unable to defuse the bomb. Unable to pick up a weapon after being revived
  • Various audio bugs where the only audio being played is of vehicles, no audio, or only weapons
  • Xbox users: We know of a bug with invites and joining up from the Xbox Dashboard. While this is being investigated, you can still send invites and join up with friends within the game.
  • Staying as a Party after a match: After completing a match as a party, some players are unable to find a new match and are stuck in the matchmaking lobby. We’re still looking into this issue, but in the meantime, disbanding your party and joining back up is a temporary solution while we work on a fix.
  • Spawning and Visuals: Spawning is currently inconsistent on some maps, so thank you for sharing your videos with us and sharing your feedback. We’ll continue to monitor the spawn system and we’ll update you if we deploy any changes. We will also be looking into lighting and exposure on various areas of the map, such as how you view dark rooms from the outside of a building and vice versa, for example.
  • Voice chat: Voice chat is inconsistent when joining up with players on other platforms. This is being investigated.

How Cross Play will work in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Ahead of the start of Weekend 2 of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta, Activision and Infinity Ward have shared details on how the cross play feature will work in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

This weekend of the Modern Warfare Beta is on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and Cross Play will be enabled allowing players to play with friends on any platform.

Infinity Ward has shared some new info via Activision Blog and the live stream on how exactly Cross Play is going to work in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and what their plans are for this feature.

Here’s the details on the Cross Play support in Modern Warfare:

1. You can Opt in, or Opt out:

In Modern Warfare, players can choose to enable crossplay, allowing players to play with friends on all three supported platforms, so the game offers an opt-in choice.

2. A COD Account is Needed:

Remember, you will need a COD Account to play Modern Warfare, if you don’t have one already you can create one here.

3. Matchmaking and Balancing:

In Modern Warfare, crossplay has been designed to factor play balancing across differences in controller type. No one should feel an unfair advantage. Plus, players have choices on which control device they wish to use on any platform. Here are some examples you may experience:

·      You can decide to use keyboard and mouse on PlayStation® 4 or Xbox One.

·      You can decide to use a controller on PC.

·      PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC players can all play against each other, provided they all utilize controllers, or all utilize KBM (a keyboard and mouse).

·      You can place into a lobby where there are no control scheme filters, allowing you to play with players using both controllers and/or KBM across up to all three supported platforms.

Plus, with the addition of crossplay, we anticipate that players should look forward to even shorter lobby wait times.

4. Adding your Friends and Gathering Parties:

Using your COD Account, you are able to create cross-platform Friends lists and Parties from all three supported platforms. This unites the community by removing barriers, creating platform-agnostic friend groups. Are you a PS4 player with friends on Xbox One and PC, for example? Now you can organize parties and jump into matches with your friends, easily and quickly regardless of platform!

5. Crossplay Applicable Modes:

Crossplay supports all multiplayer modes in Modern Warfare. There are no plans currently to support Ranked Play or competitive tournaments.

These are just a few of the highlights. Today at 10AM PDT, Infinity Ward developers will go even deeper on the ins and outs of crossplay gameplay live via stream. You can tune in here.

In addition, the company announced that PlayStation will not be getting Modern Warfare content early. All platforms will be getting post launch maps and modes at the same time.

Modern Warfare post launch content to release on all platforms at the same time

Who knew this day would finally come?

Activision has announced that post launch maps and modes for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will release on all platforms at the same time, marking an end to the exclusivity periods that have been part of Call of Duty for more than 12 years.

The company announced this information as part of a blog post detailing how Cross Play will work in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Cross Play will allow players to play Modern Warfare with friends on any platform – between PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Following the launch of Modern Warfare next month, the team has worked to ensure that content will be released in a way that enables all players to continue to seamlessly play together. Most Post-launch gameplay content, including new multiplayer maps, new multiplayer modes, special ops missions and more will release simultaneously across all platforms. We look forward to further detailing how post-launch content plans will operate prior to Modern Warfare’s launch on October 25th.

In addition, Call of Duty is excited to continue its partnership with PlayStation, including last weekend’s PS4 debut of the Modern Warfare Open Beta as well as the recent PS4 exclusive 2v2 Alpha. But the best is yet to come. For the very first time in our partnership with PlayStation, PS4 players will have an exciting Day 1 advantage. More details on how Call of Duty will continue to support PlayStation as the best place to play Modern Warfare will be rolled out soon.

With Cross Play in mind, Activision and Infinity Ward wants to keep the player base together and ensure all players have the same matchmaking content to play.

The exclusivity agreement for Call of Duty started all the way back in 2009 with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, when Xbox was receiving new DLC content 30 days early before PS3 and PC. That Xbox deal lasted through 2014’s Advanced Warfare release.

In 2015, Activision announced a new partnership with Sony PlayStation starting with Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 to bring new content first to PlayStation 4 and have esports hosted on the PS4. That deal has lasted for 4 years now, and with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 the deal changed to bring all new content 7 days early on PS4. PlayStation has remained the presenting partner of the Call of Duty World League as well.

As previously announced by Infinity Ward and Activision, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare does not have the Season Pass. All post launch maps are available for free for everyone across platforms.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Early Access PS4 Beta – Day 2 Recap

Day 2 of the Early Access PlayStation 4 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta is wrapping up, and Infinity Ward has shared on Reddit a recap of the day, including what they’re looking into after Day 2 and more.

The studio is looking at the feedback from the fans on the spawn issues, working to fix a lot of the bugs including the Parties having to be disbanded, Cruise Missile issues, and a look at what’s coming during Day 3 of the Modern Warfare Beta on PS4, when the beta becomes an Open Beta for all on PS4.

The level cap will be increased to Level 20 on Sept. 14, alongside new Night variations added of current maps.

FROM INFINITY WARD:

We’re rolling into the weekend with day two of the Beta and we’re excited to tell you more about what’ll you’ll see over the weekend, but first, thank you! Thank you all again so much for your feedback, suggestions, streams, videos, and Tweets today. We’re thankful to have a community who is just as passionate as we are about Modern Warfare and we can’t do any of this without you. With that, let’s take a look at the day two recap…

Feedback Infinity Ward is investigating:

  • Cruise Missile: The camera will remain static on the initial deployment scene and not properly display the map and enemy targets below. Once having control of the missile, it can become hard to control. This is currently being looked into.
  • Clipping through vehicles and Deployable Cover: Character models are currently clipping through vehicles used during the infil sequence and in some cases, when using the Deployable Cover Field Upgrade. These are currently being investigated.
  • Semtex Grenade: When stuck to a door, the Semtex grenade will not explode and the grenade icon will remain on screen. This will be fixed for weekend two of the Beta.
  • Smoke effect on weapons: The smoke effect after firing a weapon is currently not displaying in-game. This will be fixed by launch.

UPCOMING DAY 3 BETA CONTENT:

As we mentioned yesterday, we are still experimenting with the minimap, so tomorrow, the minimap will be turned on but will not display enemy fire.

The game mode filter will be unlocked, allowing you to pick which mode (or modes) you’d like to play.

We will also increase the level cap to level 20.

Maps/Modes:

  • TDM: Azhir Cave (Day), Hackney Yard (Day), Gun Runner
  • DOM: Azhir Cave (Day), Hackney Yard (Day), Gun Runner
  • HQ: Azhir Cave (Day), Hackney Yard (Day), Gun Runner
  • HQ: 10v10 Grazna Raid
  • DOM: 10v10 Grazna Raid

Playlists:

  • Featured Playlist: Cyber Attack – Azhir Cave (Day), Hackney Yard (Day), Gun Runner, Grazna Raid
  • Featured Playlist: NVG – Azhir Cave (Night), Hackney Yard (Night) – TDM, DOM, HQ
