This patch update also introduces two new maps: Shoot House (6v6) and Krovink Farmland (Ground War) into MP, free for everyone on all platforms.

Modern Warfare Update Patch Notes

WHAT’S NEW

NEW FREE MAPS!

  • We’ve added Krovnik Farmland to Ground War and Shoot House to Multiplayer!

NEW PLAYLISTS AND A NEW MODE!

Going live on Friday…

  • Hardpoint is now in rotation!
  • Shoot House 24/7! This includes a mixture of Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed, and Headquarters

And yes, all of this new content is available for everyone, for free, across all platforms! We’re so excited to share this new content with all of you and this is just the beginning. Thank you all for playing and keep the feedback coming!

General

  • Backend fixes to prevent crashes and improve stability across all platforms, include dev errors, and various performance fixes.
  • Fix for a few bugs where some streaks and Field Upgrades were able to be flown out of bounds without penalty. General out of bound fixes were also added.
  • Fix for a bug where a player being killed by an enemy with a Variable Zoom Scope would not see the zoom function in the killcam
  • Fix for the Semtex warning audio being heard at the same volume whether in a building or outside
  • In Headquarters, players were able to place a Tac Insert and respawn when their team owned the point. This has been fixed.
  • Fix for various collision issues across maps
  • Added UI that shows when XP events are active in playlists menus
  • Sprint and Tactical Sprint speeds are now back to speeds in Beta
  • Fix for a bug where the progress of the bomb defusal can be seen by the team that planted the bomb
  • Fix for a bug that revealed players to UAVs when they fired their weapons, even if they had Ghost and a silencer equipped
  • Fixed an issue where if multiple Personal Radars were active on a team, and are both marking the same enemy, only one player would see the enemy on their minimap.

RIOT SHIELD:

Fixed an issue where the throwing knife and Thermite weren’t causing the shield to go on the player’s back when thrown. We’ve also fixed the issue where explosive splash damage wasn’t working consistently. We’ll continue to tune the Riot Shield in future updates.

CLAYMORES:

Detonating an enemy claymore with bullets is now non-lethal when at full health. We’ve also reduced the trigger and damage radius and also reduced the damage width to better match the trigger width.

BATTLE CHATTER:

Removed the ability for enemies to hear when they’ve been called out by the opposing team. We also adjusted the enemy callouts so they are never from your Operator. Enemy callouts now use a more restricted cone at the hip and even more restricted in ADS when calculating whether or not to trigger. We’ll continue to monitor this and make additional tweaks to Battle Chatter in future updates.

MOUNTING:

Slight increase to recoil while mounting.

PERKS:

E.O.D. now clamps damage to a non-lethal amount, assuming the player is at full health

LIGHTING:

Continued updates to player visibility in dark windows and dark areas.

FOOTSTEPS:

We’ve increased the occlusion percentage to filter footstep sounds behind geometry and adjusted the footstep volume at a distance. We have another large footstep change coming in the next update which will make crouch and ADS movement significantly quieter. Stay tuned!

CHALLENGES/PROGRESSION/RANK

Daily Challenges and Active Missions are getting a full sweep of testing and fixes. We’ll have more updates to these systems in future updates.

  • Fix for a bug where the Infiltrator challenge was not tracking properly
  • Fix for launchers not giving XP when shooting down killstreaks
  • Fix for a bug where planting or defusing 5 bombs in Cyber Attack or SnD was not tracking properly
  • Camo challenge for “Kills After a Reload” didn’t give the player enough time to acquire a kill, so time has been increased
  • Fix for a bug where your XP require to reach the next rank was higher than the value needed

Weapons

  • 725 Shotgun: Increase to ADS and Hip Spread, reduced damage range
  • M4A1 Assault Rifle: Reduced damage range, small recoil increase

Modern Warfare had the most successful launch of any Call of Duty of this generation

Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has had the most successful launch weekend out any Call of Duty title on this console generation.

Modern Warfare generated more than $600 million in its first three days, beating out both Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Call of Duty: WWII – the previous two best selling Call of Duty’s on this generation.

Activision also stated that Modern Warfare was the biggest digital release in Activision’s history, and the company said that the game set new records on the PS4 store for the most downloads in its opening weekend.

Activision also says that Modern Warfare’s opening weekend has more than “doubled” the box office opening of this year’s Joker movie.

Activision’s Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® had more than $600 million in sell-through worldwide in its first three days of release. The title has sold more units in its first three days than any other Call of Duty® game sold in its first three days in this console generation, and is the top-selling new premium game release of 2019. Modern Warfare also established a new record as the #1 top-selling digital opening in Activision history. With its blockbuster launch, in its first three days of release, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare more than doubled the box office opening of Joker.

Modern Warfare set new records on the PlayStation Network for the highest digital pre-orders and highest three-day digital sales ever on PlayStation 4. Modern Warfare also has become the #1 top-selling Call of Duty PC launch ever, as opening weekend PC sales on Blizzard Battle.net® were significantly up over last year.

“Call of Duty is once again the top selling new premium game of the year, proving the enduring nature of the franchise across console, PC, mobile, and esports,” said Bobby Kotick, Activision Blizzard’s Chief Executive Officer. “In its first three days of release, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare more than doubled the box office opening of Joker.”

“Through the first three days, Modern Warfare has more total players and total hours played than any Call of Duty opening release in the last six years. More importantly, our players are having a great time playing,” said Rob Kostich, president, Activision. “Congratulations to Infinity Ward and all our teams involved on an incredible game and its spectacular launch. We also want to thank the community for your incredible support. The launch of Modern Warfare is only the start. There’s much more to come.”

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare – Day 1 Patch Notes

Infinity Ward has put a Reddit post up detailing the fixes and updates they’ve made to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare following the feedback from the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta in September.

The post describes an overview of bug fixes, feedback points, and more made to the overall MP experience with the feedback and data from the MP Beta.

Here’s the details on what’s updated and being worked on from Infinity Ward:

You’ll be able to earn and unlock exclusive gear and XP for both Multiplayer and Special Ops when you play through the Campaign as well, so don’t skip out! Plus, on Friday night, be sure to grab some of your friends for Ground War!

Now, since Beta, we’ve made a TON of fixes to the game. Below are patch notes for fixes we’ve been working on with the help of your feedback:

GENERAL FIXES

  • Spawning in Core Multiplayer:
    • Fixed edge case scenarios with spawning on enemies
    • Adjusted spawn logic to improve spawn quality. We’ve also added more spawns to increase your options. We will continue to improve this map by map post-launch
  • Ground War:
    • Added more fallback spawns to FOBs if the flag has too many enemies
    • Improved safety checking for spawning on Squadmates (is still dangerous, but the UI will notify you of this!)
    • Added spawning on Squadmates while in vehicles
    • Neutral tanks and helicopters now show up in the Spawn Selection screen
    • Helicopters now have flares to help manage incoming missiles
    • If all flags are captured by one team, you’ll go into Defcon to win so protect those flags!
    • Fix for an exploit that was allowing players (and therefore teammates) to spawn under the map
  • Lighting:
    • Brightened characters in dark areas across many maps
  • Low Health Visuals:
    • Now brightens up in the middle of the screen instead of darkening
  • Weapon Balance:
    • In general, weapons received a lot of love since the Beta. Most notably shotguns and pistols.
  • Equipment:
    • Enemy claymores now have larger, visible lasers
    • Reviving a teammate near a friendly claymore could cause the claymore to explode, resulting in a suicide
  • Mini-Map:
    • Now on by default across core multiplayer and Ground War. Enemy firing does not show up on the mini-map unless a team UAV is active
    • Map zoom is pulled out a bit to help with player awareness
  • Killstreaks:
    • VTOL Jet adjusted to not target players though rooftops
    • Fix for the Juggernaut Suit not spawning out of a crate. Another fix was deployed to prevent the mask from staying on the player after you have died as the Juggernaut and respawned
    • After using the Cruise Missile, player character models were sometimes stuck in a lean after using the streak
  • Screen tearing on character and weapon models on Xbox
  • Impact damage of lethals/tacticals and the ammo box were causing instant kills
  • Adjustments to the descriptions in Gunsmith
  • Fix for a bug where the wrong input would be shown for players in a party
  • Fix for a bug where a door could open in the opposite direction of the player’s movement
  • Footsteps – Footstep tuning of volume fall off distance, mixing volume and occlusion settings
  • Placing Deployable Cover on stairs could prevent teammates from being able to mantle or crouch under, blocking paths**.**
  • Various audio tuning and fixes for executions and weapons
  • Players were able to spam the crouch button while moving creating a ‘snaking’ effect.

PC SPECIFIC

  • Crouch and prone transition animations have been smoothed out for high FPS
  • ADS Sensitivity options can now be saved when using KBM
  • Double-tapping the sticks now always triggers the Tactical Sprint when using a gamepad on PC
  • Fixed blurriness in various situations
  • Ping widget is now showing the correct latency value
  • Added depth of field option in the Graphics options
  • Added HDR support
  • Added NVIDIA Highlight support in MP
  • Global performance improvements and stability fixes
  • ADS transition animations have been smoothed out for high FPS
  • Adjusted stand-to-prone timing for KBM versus gamepads
  • Player no longer loses sprint functionality by holding down sprint keybind and the move keybind while respawning
  • FOV Slider setting reverting to default after loading into the map.

Each weapon has 103 camos in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Every weapon in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has 103 camos you can unlock starting on Day 1.

Yes, 103 camos. For every single weapon in the game.

These are not camos that are coming later on or to be added in the Battle Pass or shop. All 103 Camos are earnable starting from launch day.

Each weapon has a new system for camos. As detailed first in the Activision Blog post last week, each weapon has 10 camo “categories” to unlock. These categories are unlocked just by leveling up the weapon. Each of the 10 categories unlocks at different weapon levels.

Here’s the 10 categories for each weapon:

  • Spray Paint
  • Woodland
  • Digital
  • Urban
  • Splinter
  • Topo
  • Tiger
  • Stripes
  • Reptile
  • Skulls

Once you unlock a category by reaching a certain weapon level, each of the categories then have 10 variants of camos available to unlock.

The variants of the camo to unlock in each of the categories is unlocked via completing in-game challenges. The spray paint camos require certain amount of kills; others require headshots, and more weapon tied challenges to keep progressing and getting new camo unlocks.

So that’s 100 camos to unlock per weapon. What are the extra 3?

Well…unlocking all 100 camos for each weapon unlocks Gold for each of the weapons. Unlocking Gold for all weapons in a weapon category unlocks Platinum camos for those weapons. Unlocking every single camo for every single weapon gets you the new mastery camo called Damascus. More on that here…
