GameInformer has announced that their September feature game is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

GameInformer will release their digital issue on August 6, which will feature in-depth details from the Infinity Ward team on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. We will be reading the magazine issue and will share any new details that does drop!

The site also stated that they be showcasing map overviews, dev interviews, details on the campaign, and so much more throughout the month starting on August 6.

We spent tons of time with developers on both the multiplayer modes and the campaign offerings to dig deep into serious changes coming to the franchise for this outing, including systems that force players to make quick decisions in the single-player campaign regarding friends, foes, and unknowns in the context of combat. As part of the press release for MP, Infinity Ward has revealed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will have a 100 player Ground War mode when it launches in October.

Players can jump into new play spaces that redefine Call of Duty multiplayer, from quick-action, close-quarters 2 vs. 2 experiences in Gunfight, traditional 6 vs. 6 multiplayer gameplay, modes that support 10 vs. 10 and 20 vs. 20 firefights, along with high-player count maps and combat, such as the all-new Ground War, an epic large-scale mode supporting more than 100-players. And, that’s just the beginning for Modern Warfare fans.

Activision has not stated that this is a Battle Royale, but rather it appears to be just a new MP mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

The studio has showcased gameplay today of the 2v2, 6v6, 10v10, and 20v20 as part of their stream today, but has not shown the 100 player mode as of now.

The new edition of Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare comes packed with a real life Night Vision Goggles, the first time NVG has been included in the Collector’s Edition of a Call of Duty game since Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in 2009.

The Dark Edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will retail for $199.

The goggles can operate in “Day mode”, allowing the user to see in full color, and automatically switch to “Night mode” when dark conditions are detected. On July 31, Activision announced the official line-up of influencers that will be appearing at the Modern Warfare multiplayer reveal event.

The Modern Warfare MP reveal live stream will go live on August 1 at 10AM PDT/1PM EDT and feature several hours of competition between these competitors.

The line-up of influencers includes plenty of major Twitch streamers & YouTubers like CourageJD, Myth, DrDisrespect, and more. Many of these personalities have played Call of Duty in the past or been involved with the game in some capacity.

Important to note, the list does not include current professional CoD players. However, these players may have been able to play and consult on the game in earlier playtests.

Be sure to tune into the stream on Aug. 1 at twitch.tv/callofduty to see the official reveal of Modern Warfare multiplayer.

Back in May with the games reveal, GameStop shared a listing, which was quickly removed, for a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Dark Edition.

The Dark Edition has now been confirmed as members of the press are getting a look at the Night Vision Goggles included in the edition.

Ahead of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare MP reveal on August 1, users have started to notice an update to the Call of Duty website suggests that there’s a beta coming for the game.

As of today, trying to go to callofduty.com/beta now redirects to profile.callofduty.com/modern warfare/beta, but that site gives back an unexpected error as it’s not officially live yet. Previously, the site was directing to /blackops4/beta.

Activision has not officially confirmed a beta pre-order for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare as of now, so this could be part of the announcement on Thursday.

Today’s teasers showcase a first look at three killstreaks in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare MP.

Infantry Assault Vehicle

Manned light infantry assault vehicle with a .50 cal machine gun on top.

White Phosphorus

Cover the battlefield with white smoke flare canisters that will disorient the enemy, and burn any that wander too close.

Juggernaut

Call in a care package that contains the Juggernaut assault gear.

Users on Reddit have posted a thread asking Infinity Ward about the customization content in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

One of the big requests was about how the customization content will look and fit into the overall theme of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game. The Reddit post is titled, “Please do not have pink, rainbow, glowing, random unrealistic skins for our character.”

Infinity Ward’s Art Director has responded to this thread stating that they plan for Modern Warfare’s content to be “realistic and relevant.”

Whether that holds up through the game’s life cycle has yet to be determined of course. Previous Call of Duty games have had some crazy, out-there style customization items that many would not expect in a FPS military shooter, but some fans do enjoy a broad style of customization content to change up their character’s look.
