Infinity Ward working to removing racist IDs in game, says ‘no place for racist content’

Infinity Ward has announced steps they’re talking to address racist user names that are in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone.

In a statement released by the studio, the studio says that there’s “no place for racist content” in their games and are working to remove names that are inappropriate from the game.

The studio says their effort ‘began at launch’ but admits they ‘need to do a better job.’

The studio plans to add additional filters, resources, and more to prevent racist user names in their games.

The statement comes as there continues to be protests and unjust in the US over the murder of George Floyd by Minnesota Police. Many users online were showcasing images from Modern Warfare asking Infinity Ward to address the issue in game rather than just delaying the new season.

With Modern Warfare, Activision implemented a new system for how to make users in game because of cross play, with everyone needing an Activision ID, that has its own filter compared to first party services.
