Modern Warfare devs actively working on fix for spectating bug

Infinity Ward is actively working on a fix for the spectating bug that was discovered in Search & Destroy, Cyber Attack, and Headquarters.

A new bug was discovered that is causing players, when killed in these modes and respawn is disabled, to get a third person spectating angle that allows players to see around the area and call out enemies for teammates.

Infinity Ward’s Joe Cecot has confirmed a fix is being worked on for this.

There’s no ETA for this fix, but Infinity Ward’s Comms Manager tweeted out this morning that they are also working on finalizing another update to the game that is set to be released soon. There’s no date yet for it, but she noted that patch notes will be available before the update goes live.

Stay tuned.

Next Modern Warfare patch update set to fix rank related crash issues

An issue that fans have discovered in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare since reaching the high levels inside the Officer Ranks in game is that the game starts to crash once you complete the Ribbon Challenges in game.

Each officer rank in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare unlocks a new ribbon challenge that players can complete for bonus XP and rewards.

The issue is currently resulting in players unable to play Modern Warfare as the game keeps crashing with each time you try to play any mode.

Infinity Ward says that the next patch update for the game will resolve this issue, but there’s no ETA on the patch yet.

Upcoming updates are also expected to touch the spawn system, footstep audio, and more requested changes.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Upcoming Update Will Change The 725 Shotgun Again

Activision is planning another update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare to address one of the military shooter’s most controversial weapons. In a tweet, multiplayer co-director Joe Cecot said developer Infinity Ward is planning another change for the 725 shotgun that should address how effective the weapon is at a distance.

Specifically, the update will “massage out” instances where the 725 is seemingly too effective at range, Cecot said. As you can see in the video below, the 725 is still very, very effective at a distance, which many have remarked makes the shotgun far too powerful.

The 725 is a break-action shotgun that carries only two rounds. It’s also not a standard shotgun. The weapon has a cylindrical choke that keeps the projectile spread tight. This is what makes the 725 effective at long ranges unlike other, more standard shotguns.

In another tweet, Cecot said Infinity Ward is being careful to make sure that whatever changes it plans for the 725 do not impact the “soul” of the weapon. He also confirmed that Infinity Ward has no plans to simply remove the 725 from the game. “No,” he said.

No Caption Provided

The video below shows the 725 killing someone in one shot, from across the map. Cecot said this video shows a “rare” situation where one of the shotgun pellets lands. That being said, Cecot added that there are “changes still to come,” presumably for instances like this.

Modern Warfare launched at the end of October, and it generated $600 million in revenue right away. The game is expected to sell as many as 27 million copies this quarter, while it will bring in even more money when the first Battle Pass launches in December.

In other Call of Duty news, the Call of Duty Mobile game is racing up the charts with more than 140 million downloads and $50 million in revenue over its first month.

More tuning updates to the 725 in Modern Warfare coming

Although the latest patch update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare made some updates to the 725 shotgun, the weapon is still too strong as more players are continuing to use the weapon in game, especially on Shoot House 24/7.

Infinity Ward’s Joe Cecot has confirmed on Twitter that they are still working on additional balancing updates to the 725 shotgun that will be released in the near future.

Cecot said on Twitter that they will still preserve to maintain the 725 as a viable weapon in Modern Warfare and not fully nerfing it into the ground and making is useless.

He even stated that they will not be removing the weapon from the game at all, and that they will continue to optimize and balance it to make sure it works in the game effectively with all other weapons.

Specifically, the changes to the weapon that are coming involves removing the long range one shot hit if all the pellets of the weapon hit the player. With this change, the weapon should be more balanced and focused within the shotgun ranges.

Stay tuned for updates.

Modern Warfare dev looking into adding more Custom Loadout slots

Infinity Ward has stated on Twitter that they are aware of fan requests to have more the five create a class custom loadout slots in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

The game only has 5 slots right now for fans to build their classes around, and since the progression system in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has changed, there’s no way to earn or unlock more slots in this game.

In previous Call of Duty games, prestiging unlocked more create a class slots and allowed up to 10 loadouts (with some games even more). Other Call of Duty games in the past charged money with an “Extra Slots” Pack that players could buy.

Infinity Ward’s Joe Cecot says the feedback on this has been noted but they don’t have any news to share right now on it.

There’s no release for this possible feature, but we do also hope that Infinity Ward considers adding it in as it’s nice to have more than 5 options.

Modern Warfare does feature the ability to change classes during a match, so you can adjust as you need, but having more preset classes would be useful.

Call of Duty Endowment announces the ‘Hire. Honor.’ campaign to celebrate its 10 year anniversary

The Call of Duty Endowment, Activision Blizzard’s non profit organization that helps veterans find jobs, has announced a new “Hire. Honor.” campaign to celebrate the organization’s 10 year anniversary of helping veterans find jobs.

The Call of Duty Endowment has helped many veterans find jobs over the last 10 years and has found unique ways of allowing the community to help support the charity through in-game content packs in Call of Duty titles.

General James Mattis, Decorated American Veteran and Former United States Secretary of Defense, joins the campaign in a call-to-action Public Service Video which can be viewed at: callofdutyendowment.org/HireHonor. In addition to urging viewers to honor veterans by hiring veterans, General Mattis asserts that the vast majority of veterans who have experienced combat emerge stronger and are even greater assets to our society and the workforce.

The campaign encompasses a variety of programs that support the Endowment, with 100% of Activision proceeds going directly to finding jobs for veterans. The Call of Duty Endowment has funded the placement of more than 63,000 veterans into well-paying, high-quality jobs and expects to place 100,000 veterans in meaningful jobs by 2024.

“It is my great honor to partner with General Mattis and General Jones in honoring our veterans by hiring our veterans,” said Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard and co-founder of the Call of Duty Endowment. “We are committed to finding 100,000 jobs for veterans by 2024.”

For the Hire. Honor. campaign, the Endowment is adding additional ways to support veterans and earn in-game content in both Call of Duty: Mobile and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

  • Starting Monday, Nov. 11, Call of Duty®: Mobile will feature an Endowment-themed content pack entitled the Call of Duty Endowment Honor Pack which includes a new skin for in-game items
  • Players can participate by watching some of their favorite streamers play Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare on Twitch this Veterans Day. Look for streamers with CODE clan tags to see the Call of Duty Endowment streams. Fans who watch for 1 hour will receive 30 minutes of 2XP. Fans who watch for 2 hours will also receive a Call of Duty Endowment Calling Card.

The company also announced a donation partnership with Klay Thompson and Dr. Disrespect.

Gaming superstar Dr Disrespect and basketball legend Klay Thompson are teaming up with Omaze to raise funds for the Call of Duty Endowment. To bring attention to this important cause, they are offering the chance for one lucky fan to play Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare with Dr Disrespect and Klay Thompson, which will be livestreamed on Twitch. The lucky winner will play alongside one of gaming’s most dynamic personalities and one of the greatest three-point shooters in basketball, while supporting the work and mission of the Call of Duty Endowment. Visit Omaze.com/COD for details.

The organization partnered with General Jim Mattis for this campaign and released a new video discussing the campaign.
