This Week in Modern Warfare & Warzone: New Playlists & Bundles

Activision Blog has posted the latest This Week in Call of Duty post highlighting what players can expect in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone for the week of September 4.

This week sees the continuation of Shoot the Ship, and new playlists like Ground War Reinfected, and more in MP.

And, in Warzone, Buy Back Quads playlist is available this weekend, alongside the standard BR Solos, Duo, Trios, and Quads.

This week will also see new store bundles for fans to pick up who want to customize their operators and weapons, including the Tracer Anime Pack and new Alex Bundle.

Here’s the breakdown from Activision Blog:

Modern Warfare®

Shoot the Ship-tember continues with more 24/7 action of the fan-favorite playlist! Also play tight and tactical on the Gunfight Face Off moshpit, avoid the infected in Ground War Reinfected, and stock up on cash this weekend to get right back into the match in Buy Back Quads.

Get with your squad and battle in the Gunfight Face Off Moshpit. Enjoy standard Multiplayer modes like Cranked and Grind and be ready to employ a new set of strategies on these much smaller battlegrounds. Communication is key and consider crafting a loadout for the closer quarters of Gunfight maps.

Get three blueprints, a Riot Shield, melee weapon, and more in the ‘Tracer Pack Anime Super’ bundle. Give your enemies a deadly dusting of pink tracer fire courtesy of the Legendary assault rifle, Legendary SMG, or Epic assault rifle included in the bundle.

One of the Campaign’s heroes returns with a covert look in the ‘Alex: Death Stalker’ bundle. Get two Legendary blueprints for a complete silenced loadout and eliminate the opposition from the shadows in the latest threads for Alex.

Keep back from the horde and use the map to avoid and push back the infected in Ground War Reinfected. This large-scale Infected mode challenges you to play together with your team and watch out for any attacks from Infected players. Or join the legion of Infected, rise up, and take down anyone left standing.

Don’t stop fighting in Buy Back Quads, available only this weekend. Don’t spend all your money on Buy Stations instead have some handy to get back into the match, in case you face an unfortunate demise. Other Warzone modes available this week: Battle Royale Solos, Duos, Trios, and Quads and Blood Money Trios.

#LiveFromWarzone

Tune in this week for intense-action, fights for survival, and frenetic hot drops streaming #LivefromWarzone. A showdown is in the works on September 16 from 11AM – 2PM PT in Vikkstar’s Warzone Showdown. On September 17, link up with FaZe clan in the Twitch FaZe event featuring Duos and Quads matches with teams seeking the most eliminations.

Activision files cease and desist letter against another cheat manufacturer

Activision Blizzard continues to take down cheat manufacturer sites to stop the spread of different cheats for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone.

In August, the company filed a lawsuit against CXCheats for illegally creating cheats to be used in an IP owned by Activision Blizzard. CXCheats since deleted all cheats for Modern Warfare and Warzone in compliance with the lawsuit.

Now, in September, another large cheat manufacturer, GatorCheats, has said that Activision Blizzard has filed a cease and desist letter to stop them from making cheats for Call of Duty games.

The owner of GatorCheats said in their Discord that the first letter was filed by in May 2020, but they did not fully comply with that – opting to allow cheats to continue to be available.

In May 2020, Activision Blizzard’s attorneys contacted me via a Cease and Desist letter. Considering this event, I decided to act on my already pending decision to close all sales to new customers for my product relating to Modern Warfare and Warzone.

Activision has since escalated the requests. In Sept. 2020, the owner of GatorCheats claims that Activision Blizzard served another cease and desist letter. But, this time, a PI showed up at his residence with the letter and informed him of what Activision knows about their site and the owners behind it.

In September 2020, Activision Blizzard’s attorneys had another Cease and Desist letter hand delivered to me by who I assume was a PI, considering he knew my family members by name and made a point to showcase that he did. Also in September 2020, I received very clear communication in a follow up from Activision Blizzard’s attorneys communicating that they would litigate (file a law suit against me) if I didn’t comply with continuation of stopped sales as well as a complete stoppage of interaction with and updating of any products related to their client’s products.

The full letter from the owner states that he will “never make or create” a cheat for an Activision Blizzard product again after receiving the letters and a visit from them at his house.

Activision has not commented on their anti-cheat initiatives since June, where the company said they continue to ban players on a regular basis.

Modern Warfare & Warzone Sept. 8 Update: New Operator & More

Activision Blog has officially posted what to expect in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone for the week starting Sept. 8.

For MP fans, Shoot the Ship will stay in the rotation through the end of the month, 2v2 Gunfight returns, and more.

For Warzone fans, 50v50 Warzone Rumble mode will make a return this weekend, with an experience around the Stadium.

And, there’s a new Operator – Morte – available in the Modern Warfare and Warzone store!

Here’s the full debrief on what’s new:

Modern Warfare®

As the Games of Summer judges are finalizing their scores, Morte is set to arrive in his debut Store Bundle, Multiplayer will have a Moshpit of Party Games, and prepare for a weekend Rumble playlist in Warzone alongside its gold standard modes.

Arriving via the “Morte Operator Bundle,” the man they call “death” is ready to reinforce the Coalition’s Warcom division. In addition to his imposing Old West style, Morte is a deadly sharpshooter who served in the legendary Col Moschin Paratrooper regiment.

Along with his “Sentenza” skin, his debut bundle also includes two blueprints, a Legendary Marksman Rifle and a Legendary Assault Rifle, which both have red, white, and green “Morte” tracers in honor of his Italian heritage.

Among other Store Bundles set to drop this week is the Devourer, which features a Legendary Assault Rifle Blueprint configured with a high-caliber magazine that can chew through an enemy team with accurate semi-auto fire.

A new operator arriving to Modern Warfare is worth throwing a party in Multiplayer over. Specifically, head to Multiplayer this week to play in the featured Party Mode Moshpit playlist, complete with non-traditional experiences like Gun Game. Don’t worry about kills, deaths, wins or losses, because they all don’t count in this playlist. What does count, however, are the friends (or enemies) you make along the way.

Other playlists this week include two 2v2 Gunfight modes: the standard Gunfight, as well as Gunfight On-Site Procurement (OSP), where your loadout is based on what you pick up around the map. Standard Ground War will replace Boots on the Ground War, while Demolition shifts to the Featured Playlist spotlight straight out of the Quick Play menu.

And, as promised, Shoot the Ship is still here, clocking in for its third week during its month-long featured playlist residency (AKA “Shiptember”). Keep progressing on your road to Damascus or Obsidian camos and Weapon Mastery challenges, or just go for some fast Ws on these two chaotic community-favoritemaps.

As for Warzone, get ready to rumble this upcoming weekend when 50v50 Warzone Rumble makes its return, which will feature an experience based around Verdansk Stadium. Before and during the weekend, expect to see the classic Battle Royale and Plunder modes round out the Warzone playlist rotation.

This Week in Modern Warfare & Warzone: Operator Morte arrives

A new Operator for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone will be available starting Tuesday, Sept 8.

The new Operator is an Italian Operator named Morte and is played by Italian actor Fabio Rovazzi.

“Being a character in Call of Duty has always been a secret and impossible dream of mine,” Rovazzi said, “and there are no words to describe the excitement of the opportunity to give my voice and my appearance to an operator. I also love the character tribute to the Italian Western tradition. When I think that millions of players will be able to play with my character, I feel flattered and satisfied beyond imagination.”

Rovazzi has posted a YouTube video showcasing the process of him being motion captured and voice captured to be added to Modern Warfare and Warzone.

His recording session for motion capture happened earlier this year, so he was in person in LA at the Activision studio.

He also sent in voice recording lines to be used with his character.

Rovazzi’s new Morte character is also on the cover of Rolling Stone’s Italy magazine, with a feature length article available to read here (in Italian).

The new Morte Operator bundle will be available in Modern Warfare & Warzone starting Sept. 8.

Ground War Reinforce is live this week and work to capture flags to gain position and bring your teammates back into the battle. Similar to Domination, there will only be three flags positioned in the center for a tighter more intense battle. Cap all three to automatically claim the round for your team.

Long live the King… until now. Eliminate top players or “kings” in the latest Warzone limited mode, Kingslayer. Also available, survive the circle and the Gulag in Battle Royale Solos, Duos, Trios, and Quads or get more bucks with your bang in Blood Money Quads.

End Games of Summer with a bang courtesy of a one-day triple feed. Get Double XP, Double Weapon XP, and Double Battle Pass Tier Progression all day long on September 7. It’s the perfect time to rake in some XP from Trials, complete ribbons or missions, and level up Modern Warfare’s newest weapon the FiNN LMG.

Activision files lawsuit against cheat manufacturer

Activision filed a lawsuit to sue a company responsible for creating hacks and exploits for Modern Warfare and Warzone.

Activision has sued CXCheats for illegally creating cheats to use in Call of Duty, the company announced.

CXCheats claims on their website that they are “dedicated to quality.”

This is a pathetic marketing line to convince users to buy cheats to use in Call of Duty.

The owner announced on Discord (message posted to Reddit) that they are removing Warzone cheats from their site.

Announcement Message

As some of you may know, Activision Publishing, Inc. has filed a lawsuit against CXCheats and has made it clear to us that our services violate their Terms of Use.

As a result of our lawsuit with Activision, we have agreed to cease development and support for all Call of Duty related products or services sold through the site. These products will not be returning to CXCheats in any form. You also should be aware that using third-party tools in Call of Duty may result in the suspension or banning of your account by Activision Publishing, Inc. or the game’s developers. We apologize for any pain we’ve caused to players of Call of Duty.

Call of Duty: Warzone has been experiencing an intense amount of hackers since the game’s launch on March 13 on the PC platform.

With cross play, the hacks impacted the console players as well. PS4 players have opted to disable cross play to avoid them. Xbox players currently cannot disable cross play for unknown reasons.

CXCheats said on Discord that any user found using their software in Warzone will be banned, permanently.

Any user who utilizes unauthorized third-party software to gain an unfair advantage, manipulate stats, and/or manipulate game data is subject to penalty. Unauthorized third-party software includes, but is not limited to, aimbots, wallhacks, trainers, stats hacks, texture hacks, leaderboard hacks, injectors, or any other software used to deliberately modify game data on disk or in memory.

As of now, Activision has not commented on the lawsuit.

Games of Summer event now live in Modern Warfare & Warzone

The first ever in-game event for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is live with the Games of Summer Event, available now through September 7 for everyone – both premium Modern Warfare game owners and free to play Warzone owners.

The event centers around setting time records in the Trials feature in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

Competing in the Games of Summer event allows you to unlock bonus content and rewards to use in Modern Warfare and Warzone.

Here’s the breakdown of how the event works and different Trials available to compete in.

Compete for Glory…And Free Rewards

For the first time in Call of Duty franchise history, community members from around the world – both those who own Modern Warfare and free-to-play Warzone – will be able to represent their country in easy-to-play, hard-to-master, single-player Trials of skill. By earning medals in each Trial, competitors will prove which country’s Tier One Operators are truly the best in the world.

Within Games of Summer, there are five Trials. These miniature experiences are similar to those introduced at Modern Warfare’slaunch and in post-launch Season updates.

Trials will be available for Modern Warfare and free-to-play Warzone players. Players will have unlimited entries, meaning you can keep playing them to set your best time or score and go for Gold.

A Pentathlon of Trials

Gold Medal tip: some Trials shave seconds off your final time for high accuracy, while others add points based on how quickly waves are completed.

  • Trial One: Gun Course (Starts August 28) on Custom Gun Course Map
    • Description: Make your way through the course as fast as possible while clearing all enemy targets and avoiding civilian casualties.
    • Medal Times: 01:30:00 (Bronze) / 01:00:00 (Silver) / 00:40:00 (Gold)
    • Loadout: Assorted Weapons
  • Trial Two: Price’s Alley (Starts August 29) on Custom Price’s Alley Map
    • Description: Eliminate an endless series of enemy targets while avoiding civilian targets to maintain the combo for as long as possible.
    • Medal Scores: 4,000 (Bronze) / 5,000 (Silver) / 6,000 (Gold)
    • Loadout: Renetti (Handgun)
  • Trial Three: Risky Parkour (Starts August 30) on Livestock
    • Description: Move through each checkpoint and finish the course as quickly as possible. Beware the heavy toxic gas on low ground.
    • Medal Times: 0:55:00 (Bronze) / 0:47:00 (Silver) / 0:40:00 (Gold)
    • Loadout: Combat Knife
  • Trial Four: Shooting Range (Starts August 31) on King
    • Description: Locate and shoot all targets in the area as quickly as possible while conserving ammunition.
    • Medal Times: 0:50:00 (Bronze) / 0:40:00 (Silver) / 0:30:00 (Gold)
    • Loadout: Assorted Weapons
  • Trial Five: Marksman Challenge Starts (September 1) on Custom Marksman Challenge Map
    • Description: Engage waves of long-distance targets and beat the clock. Missed shots burn time.
    • Medal Times: 3,400 (Bronze) / 3,900 (Silver) / 4,400 (Gold)
    • Loadout: HDR (Sniper Rifle)

To the Victor Goes the Spoils for Self and Country

For participating in Games of Summer, players will receive rewards based on performance within each Trial. These rewards are stackable – if a competitor achieves gold on the first try, they will receive all three rewards for their epic (or in some cases, legendary) achievement.

Each Trial medal comes alongside rewards (rewards can only be received once) and all players who participate earn the ‘Games of Summer Cup’ weapon charm. Trials rewards include but are not limited to vehicle skins, XP tokens, vehicle horns, calling cards, and Legendary weapon blueprints.

Earn gold in each Trial and receive the Legendary Assault Rifle Juliet Blueprint, a weapon truly built for chasing first place on any leaderboard. Built for pure precision with a clear, non-magnified sight picture, consider this a “gold standard” among a competitive pool of this weapon platform’s existing blueprints.

On top of these rewards, individual medals will give points to a player’s respective country, determined by their account’s origin. Each country’s points will be updated daily, and the top 15 countries will be visible on in-game leaderboards. Total scoring is weighted by country participants, so any nation can rise to the top.

Earn medals and rack up your points for your country, then at the culmination of Games of Summer, a country will be crowned champion. Will there be an underdog that claims glory for a well-contested Trial at the 11th hour? Or will one country hold a commanding lead throughout the Games?

Drop in and play before the event ends on September 7!
