Activision Blog has posted the latest This Week in Call of Duty post highlighting what fans can expect in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone for this week.

This week is the first full week of Season 3 in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone. This week will see Double XP and Double Weapon XP live in Modern Warfare and Warzone, alongside a new playlist in Warzone which restricts the loot to just shotguns and snipers.

Activision has also announced the Live From Warzone events featuring many different streams and more this week for fans to watch.

Here’s the details from Activision Blog:

A new mode is available for Warzone that limits the weapons to snipers and shotguns and changes up the strategies required to win – Scopes and Scatter Guns Trios. Grab your merry band of three in this twist on Battle Royale that brings you into new ranges of play. Will you get up close and pack a devasting punch with a shotgun? Or decide to deal death at distance with a sniper? Make your choice or do a mix of both, just try to outlast the enemy and the collapse in this Battle Royale variant to claim victory. 

Looking to move up the Enlisted or Officer Ranks? This weekend level up your weapons and your rank with Double Weapon XP and Double XP. Starting on April 17 at 10AM PDT until April 20 at 10AM PDT, jump in a match of Multiplayer, Special Ops, or Warzone and boost your rank to expand your loadout options. Use this time to finish off challenges, missions, ribbons, and test your skills in Trials to get the most XP and Weapon XP for your efforts.

Announcement: Live From Warzone

Starting this week, tune in to catch your favorite streamers, athletes, and celebrites squad up with Call of Duty League pros to go #LiveFromWarzone. Expect new tournaments, entertainment, and surprises all around the game you love. Check back here every Monday for the latest news, list of events and announcements so you don’t miss out. Check the image above for this week’s lineup.

Highlights: Tune into the “Live From Warzone: Warstream” weekly livestream series which kicks off this Tuesday, April 14 at 12 PT, to watch Call of Duty League pros captain a squad of some familiar celebrity faces in Call of Duty®: Warzone. Each team will stream for two hours to rack up wins, kills, and #CODTopPlays worthy highlights for the ultimate bragging rights. Keep an eye on these teams’ social channels, so you know exactly when and where to tune in. The April 14 stream times (all in PT) are below:

• 12PM – Paris Legion
• 2PM – London Royal Ravens
• 4PM – Toronto Ultra
• 6PM – Dallas Empire
• 8PM – Los Angeles Guerrillas

On Thursday, April 16, Call of Duty League players will return to Warzone live on the Call of Duty League YouTube channel. Five teams – Atlanta FaZe, Florida Mutineers, New York Subliners, Minnesota RØKKR, and the Seattle Surge will battle for victory in Verdansk. Take in the action with play by play commentary courtesy of two CDL casters and see which celebrity guest can help their squad claim the ultimate bragging rights. UPDATE – April 12 at 10:30PM ET: Both Sony PlayStation and Xbox Live are reporting that they’re looking into issues with PlayStation Network and Xbox Live connectivity issues, respectively.

UPDATE – April 12 at 9:25PM ET: Activision Support has stated there’s another outage effecting Modern Warfare and Warzone across all platforms.

UPDATE – April 12 at 3:30PM ET: The servers for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone are now starting to come back online across platforms.

If you are experiencing issues, try restarting your console and PC in order to get back into the action.

UPDATE – April 12 at 3:17PM ET: Activision Support has confirmed that Call of Duty servers across all of their games are currently experiencing issues and are down.

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone servers are currently experiencing issues on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Players have been kicked out of games and unable to reconnect.

Many users are being met with a maintenance alert for the game’s servers when attempting to log in, and some were kicked out of their game for the message. There is also an issue with Connection Failed notification.

The message is putting users into a server queue to get back in, which usually doesn’t take too long for players to jump back in.

At the time of this writing (3:07PM ET), official website status pages have not been updated to identity any issues.

If you experience issues, try restarting your game or console in order to get back in and wait on the menu main.

Infinity Ward has been teasing a new master camo coming to Modern Warfare soon for over a month now, and now the developers are giving an estimated time frame for the new feature.

The new master camo is scheduled to arrive in the mid-Season 3 update for the game, which should arrive in a couple of weeks. Infinity Ward’s Joe Cecot has confirmed that the new camo will “take a long time” to unlock for fans. In order to unlock the new camo, you will need to have gold camo unlocked for the weapon.

In terms of how this works, you only need gold per each weapon you want to unlock the master camo for – you don’t need to have gold for every single weapon + the new DLC weapons in order to progress for this master camo for a specific weapon.

And, Cecot has confirmed that Damascus camo is NOT required in order to work towards this new master camo.

Infinity Ward’s Art Director, Joel Emslie, has noted on Reddit that both the new master camo and Gunsmith Custom features will arrive in the same mid-Season 3 update that’s in the works.

The master camo and frankensmithing “Gunsmith Customs” are in the same update. Im not sure the exact timing so Im going to go with in Season 03 so I dont cause anymore confusion.

He has also confirmed that “master calling cards” – similar to the mastery calling cards in Modern Warfare 2 – are in the works and “not that far behind” the master camo update.

The weapon master calling cards are in process and not far behind.

Many users are reporting that there is an issue on Xbox One where the Modern Warfare and Warzone update from this week won’t fully finish and stays stuck on 100%.

Players are unable to load into the game, and are stuck waiting for the update to either finish on its own or not able to play.

Users on Reddit seem to have found a potential fix, which many users are saying worked for them.

Here’s the fix — please note: you need to know your Xbox Live login information in order to complete these steps. Once you hit the reset, all your game data is saved, but you have to re-login on Xbox One.

• Go to Settings
• Then System
• Then Console Info & Updates
• Then Reset Console
• In Reset Console menu, select the ERASE AND KEEP MY GAMES AND APPS option

After following these steps, users are reporting that the update gets unstuck and finishes off installing to allow players to play again.

Activision Support confirms that they are aware of this issue and that rebooting may also work for some users.

We’re investigating an issue affecting the update/download progress bar on Xbox One.

Workaround: Try rebooting your console.

Activision has released a selection of press kit images this week in conjunction with the launch of Season 3 in Modern Warfare and Warzone.

Two of those images appear to be showing a skin for Ghost Operator that is not currently available in the game, and after a quick look through the Season 3 Battle Pass, is not part of the Pass either.

It is not clear yet as to what the plans are for releasing this Skin for the Ghost Operator. This could be added via a Store Bundle during Season 3 of the game or it could be coming in future battle passes.

Activision has announced a new stat to showcase the continued success of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and the free to play Call of Duty: Warzone.

The company says that since Modern Warfare’s launch in October through today (including Warzone), players have played a total of 2.4 billion hours online in the games combined.

Millions of players already have joined the fight to date totaling more than 2.4 billion hours played together in Modern Warfare including Warzone.

“When you play Modern Warfare and Warzone, you’re joining a massive community of players having fun, staying connected and playing together,” said David Stohl, Co-Studio Head, Infinity Ward. “Season Three is packed with free, new content coming to players across both Warzone and Modern Warfare. From the new maps and modes coming to core Multiplayer and the new ways to play in Warzone – including all-new Quad gameplay, this season is going to be awesome; we can’t wait for everyone to jump in and start playing.”

“Players are having fun and we’re having a blast seeing all of the incredible reactions across the community, which makes it even more exciting to bring all of the free content and new experiences that are in store for Season Three,” said Ryan Burnett, Senior Executive Producer, Raven Software. “There’s something for everyone whether it’s Modern Warfare multiplayer or all-out combat in Warzone, all play-styles are welcome.”

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone launches April 8 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC for all players, free with a brand new Battle Pass (free and paid tiers), new MP maps, new Warzone modes, and more.

PlayStation users, however, will be getting exclusive bonus content with Season 3 in both Modern Warfare and Warzone. The content is timed exclusive until October 1, 2020.
